 Touch Screen support
« Thread Started on Jan 22, 2011, 4:32pm »

Hello all I am going to give your distro a spin and have one question first. How close to having touch screen support does this distro come. I have a Dell Duo and it is the first machine I have ever had that has the touch screen and I like it on this small screen. I want to find a distro that does not require me to rebuild it to get the touch features functioning. Been a Linux convert for many, many years and I think we are close to having a flavor that will just work out of the box. Thanks for any help and I hope to be doing the Saline walk soon. I am downloading now and hope to receive good news :)

I did some searching around and you will need the package xserver-xorg-input-evtouch installed to use your touchscreen. I will add this package to the Saline OS 1.1 point release so touch-screens work out of the box :)

Also, there are bug reports and tutorials all around the internet about random bugs. The website for eGalax that everyone is posting bring up 404 not found. So I wouldn't expect it to work right out of the box without some manual setup. Come on back here when you get it setup and I will try and help as much as I can.

Thanks so much for all your help. I am sorry I did not introduce myself. I am a 62 year old retired Computer Scientist. I am I guess what you would call an old Linux head :) I have had the Duo for several weeks and have been trying to find the best distro to use on this machine. I have been running unbuntu net book and had to make some changes to get it up as well. I do not like the GUI that Unbuntu is using and going to be using on there next release. On these small screens the text is way to small and they only have one 16:9 resolution. Again thanks for your support and I will load the system tonight as I have it now.
