If I layout all the fields in a flat file database and put some prototype screens together using those fields with some combo boxes, check boxes etc. you will see what I'm trying to achieve.
Those .desktop files are quite a handful with all the languages and the generic bits, a database to manipulate the data and write out the .desktop files is an obvious move. Everything I'm doing with the menus is self contained in one folder so doesn't interfere with the standard menus at all.

That's why I think a simple text file is the best solution for this. Just concat all the files together, if they are not even, just add empty lines for consistency where needed. This way you can write out .desktop files without the effort, and can easily change it, if something will change in future versions of .desktop

That's why I want to have a quick look at Kylix, I never sleep the following day, I'm usually a bit tired so I just go around tidying things up, or make a video and think about the ground I've covered in a more negative doubtful way looking for problems. I did skip three nights sleep 3 years back, I was very negative for a couple of days. ::)

So use it for abandoning this Access idea ;)

It only runs under OpenSUSE and redhat :'( I'm not giving up Debian I'd sooner give up Kylix.

I'm going to install Office 97 later, that's pretty close to VB5 what I used before, it's not important what I do a prototype with.

I meant that it can change in the future, they may add some fields etc. You never know what's inside linux developer head ;)

I got my breath back and have a bit of direction now. Sorry if I went on a bit the last few days. :-[

I'm doing a rescue ISO for using qt4-fsarchiver and I'm focused on doing a multi language desktop. Something that the user can use localizesys to change the country, log out and back in and the desktop is in their preferred language

I need to identify these countries that get used in the desktop launcher files so I can do a bit of translating in google to get a bit of data together.

Long term I'm thinking that it might be possible using a google api to fire words at it and get all the translations for that word/phrase out into a database, I don't care what database as long as I can use it to write the desktop files.

I'm thinking something like that would make it possible to write a multi language installer for SalineOS or any other app.

Thank you for your help.

Maybe this will help?

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve, but using google for this will bring huge disaster ;)

Thank you :)
It's a pic :'(

I like the panel on the left but the language doesn't change so I'm trying with desktop launchers as the language does change with them.

I noticed the difference using "save" rather than "backup"

I'm curious how the devs get their installers multi language because you have a limited audience if it's only one language.

You can't see a panel with a header of "SalineOS > qt4-fsarchiver Rescue CD"? odd

I just tried grub-doctor
Code:
Name=grub doctor
Name[en-GB]=grub doctor
Name[en-US]=grub doctor
Name[nl]=bootloader Utility
Name[fr]=Utilitaire Bootloader
Name[de]=Bootloader-Dienstprogramm
Name[it]=bootloader utilità
Name[pl]=Narzędzie bootloader
Name[es]=Utilidad de gestor de arranque

GenericName=grub-doctor
GenericName[en_GB]=grub doctor
GenericName[en_US]=Restore Bootloader
GenericName[nl]=Name[nl]=bootloader Utility
GenericName[fr]=Utilitaire Bootloader
GenericName[de]=Bootloader-Dienstprogramm
GenericName[it]=bootloader utilità
GenericName[pl]=Narzędzie bootloader
GenericName[es]=Utilidad de gestor de arranque

Comment=Restore or Create your Grub2 Boot Loader to any MBR
Comment[en_US]=Restore/Create your Grub2 Boot Loader to any MBR
Comment[en_US]=Restore/Create your Grub2 Boot Loader to any MBR
Comment[it]=Ripristinare o Crea il tuo Boot Loader Grub2 a qualsiasi MBR
Comment[pl]=Przywracanie lub Załóż grub2 Boot Loadera do dowolnego MBR
Comment[es]=Restaurar o Crea tu gestor de arranque Grub2 a cualquier MBR
How's my Polish ::)
I'm thinking it might be handy for Anthony if he has the .desktop files done for all his utilities

Is "Locale Kraj klawiatura" any good for localizsys?

I see panel, I don't see panel on the left ;) Even

Wódka jest dobra, tylko mięso zepsute ;) I see too many !@ chars there, we don't talk like that ;) Well, maybe some people after wódka ;) Try to use utf-8, maybe it will get better :)
Could you explain for what exactly this locale kraj klawiatura is? I said, google is not good for translating, it doesn't understand language subtleties.

Name should be (I would write something else, but I just fix yours) Narzędzie do bootloadera

Comment: Przywróć lub zainstaluj Grub2 do MBR dowolnego dysku

Don't argue with me, I danced in some polish folklore band, we had to learn which side is which :P When I say it's on the right side, it means it's on the wrong side :P
