It's a reference to "saline solution".
Usually administered to help improve ones health.
In this case, computer health. :)

The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48 (gcide)
Saline Sa"line
1. Consisting of salt, or containing salt; as, saline
particles; saline substances; a saline cathartic.

The whole SalineOS name isn't a very fascinating story really. I had a picture of an ocean wave and an aquarium of salt water fish for the desktop background. I took some time discussing different names I had thought up for the distro on Freenode. SalineOS seemed to be the favorite and could be used for mildly entertaining taglines like "Saline it's a solution" and "Debian, needs MOAR salt". It was cemented in place when the idea was pitched to me for a logo using a beaker as the A in Saline, being a science nerd I really liked this. So the name stuck around.

So I guess since it is based on stable Squeeze, it would be "normal saline", 0.9% NaCl in h2o.

BTW, if anyone cares, the vessel in the logo is not really a beaker but an Erlenmeyer flask. Beakers are general purpose vessels with straight sides while flasks tend to be specialized toward heating and mixing applications. The narrow neck somewhat reduces the likelihood of of splatters which can be a source of serious injuries in the lab. Now does that make this "Seline OS"? Sorry to be a smartass...devil made me do it.

LOL.
Nahh. It just looks better. :)

it's really the shape of the E.Flask that was copied.
It's still the A shaped profile of an Erhlenmeyer flask .

LOL = Laughing out loud.

And here I thought it referred to the car which is FAST. Not many people use the term saline solution unless they are into chemistry. The car is actually spelled saleen but I would doubt anyone would actually try to take the name.

That's the new 2011 S302 btw
I used to know a guy who had a custom built saleen. It was so fast I thought it needed 4wd.
