It will also display if the Xorg server fails to initialize. The only reason this should occur is if the video chip-set is no longer supported by the kernel/Xorg. The Debian live scripts handle all the base Xorg configuration at boot time, if you get this problem on SalineOS it should be present in a standard Debian Live disk.

I will look into it, starting with figuring out what your system uses for a video chipset.

Well, I guess me and everyone else here is baffled. The Server has nothing installed on the hard drives, they are formatted, i wanted to boot the SalineOS PSE LiveCD so I could install it but i can't get the live environment to start.

Still trying to help. Do you have any spec on the Server, year, ATI Graphics card, RAM, Processor(s) Anything that might help?

Strange.
Do you have access to another computer to try the same CD on?
To see if you get the same result.
Did the md5 check OK.
Have you tried re-downloading and reburning, DAO at the slowest speed possible?
Sounds like a bad burn to me, but maybe I havent followed the thread carefully enough.
Regards.

This is a possibility, something is going wrong as I can confirm everything is fine on the image. What is happening is it is getting to SLiM which starts the X server, which is failing and dropping back down to the login screen (The only thing it can do).

You should try choosing the failsafe option from the live menu when it appears. This "should" allow the X server to start properly. The issue is your video card is in the ancient category, but far as I can tell is still supported as long as VESA is used (Requires booting in fail safe).

I tried booting in failsafe mode but gives the same result. I will try to boot the same cd in a different PC and let you know.

Once on the live boot menu highlight failsafe and hit the tab key. This will allow you to modify the boot command. Please add:
xforcevesa

Then hit enter to boot the system. If this doesn't work then your video card is probably not supported any longer (Though it is suppose to be under the mach64 driver which is included).

I got the ISO from the Saline website and used CDburnerXP to put it on CD. There's nothing wrong with the CD because it boots to the Live environment on my other PC.

This is very weird, I just downloaded and burned Ubuntu 11.04 and it does the exact same thing, boots to a login screen where you choose the language, session etc.

I am fairly certain that this is caused by the age of your video card. This is an upstream bug as far as I can tell, since the Xorg server is attempting to start and failing. Your card's series is still listed as supported using the mach64 driver, but obviously isn't functioning the way it should be.
