 No listing on Linux Online
« Thread Started on Jan 26, 2011, 12:03am »

I've had linux.org as a homepage for years so I of course I had to make it so in chromium. So I checked to see if you were listed there and your not. It may not get as many hits as distro watch but hey it's free and I've downloaded a bunch of distros to test off that site.

I will see about getting on there here in a little bit. The issue with the update scripts makes rebuilding images my number one priority.

Man, I hadn't been on Linux Online for a long time. Thanks for reminding me about it, I've got it bookmarked now. :)

Wish they would bring back Linux news now it all about kernels. Still it's a good source of information on linux.

It's good information for me because I don't know a lot about kernels, beyond what they are and what they do. I know people talk about new kernels and get all excited about them but to me a kernel is a kernel. :-/

I always thought that kernels only matter when they don't work. SalineOS will keep the Debian Stable kernel until the release of SalineOS 2.0. Anyone who wishes to, can simply pull an updated one from backports if they want.

Yeah, I'm from that school of thought also. If it's not broken, don't fix it. ;)

Used to be fairly simple to compile a new kernel but now days it's a major pain in the a$$. Of coursed Debian has several Howtos on the Debian way to do it. Unless you are running a server or have a laptop that needs rebooting all the time then I don't think you will gain anything by rolling your own.

Yes, I'm learning to agree. Went back to the Debian Stable kernel.
Liquorix seems OK, but maybe it's just another potential problem.
I've used other kernels because I could, not because I needed them.
I'll stay with this kernel until there is a clear reason for change.

I have had a lot of issues with the Liqourix kernel, never seems to work at all on my desktop machine. Just freezes during boot, so I don't recommend using it to anyone. Again your mileage may vary.
