 I need to vent!
« Thread Started on Jan 24, 2011, 12:02pm »

I hate brown outs! Back in Michigan I may of had one or two a year but lately here in West Virginia it's two or three a week. Next payday I'm getting three UPS. Grrrr!!!!!! One for the cable and lcd tv, my computer and one for my wifes and grandkids computers. >:(

Yeah bad power can be pretty frustrating... not to mention expensive if the strain is too much for something delicate.

That totally sucks. Brownouts are not good, especially for computers. Is it particularly stormy or are they happening for no apparent reason?

Yeah brown outs are pretty bad, but you should try having 60k upload speed :'( These nice shiny 1.1 images are taking forever.

Who knows what causes them?!? The weather is fine.

@ Anthony I feel your pain :D Growing pains are great it's the shrinking pains that suck.

I will have the torrents built up with a web seed from the website. I will also probably be driving 50 miles in a snow storm, to go get them seeded by a friend in the city. <-- Yeah really I am not kidding. In other news, about 7 hours till 1.1 images are available.

I downloaded Mandriva 2010.0 on dialup once. I think I had about an average speed of 4 KB per second. It took several days, downloading about 9 or 10 hours a day (thank goodness for resumable downloads.) I'm just glad I can now download that same distro in a little over an hour. To some people, that's probably slow but to me it's paradise. ;)

Great. Put up the torrents and I'll leave them running.

Although I'll keep the DVD for new installs; keep on with # aptitude update && aptitude dist-upgrade
(Nice to see that the aptitude people gave up on the safe-upgrade and full-upgrade insistence.)

@62chevy: a UPS is a beautiful thing to see during brown-outs or total-outs.

No kidding and the $200 bucks will be worth it in the long run.

@ Anthony as soon as I see them they will be put on a torrent.

Edit: Richard did an awesome job with formatting if you havn't looked at it recently, I highly recommend it.
