thanks! I did make a search but those links that clarify the situation didnt appear.
Its clear now, for me.
Best wishes.
You are welcome. Unfortunately the search will kick out items shorter that 4 characters long so 4.8 does not work. I try to keep my bookmarks up to date for reference and have pretty much everything that has been written in this forum, but, that's my job. Glad to be of service.

well, its nice having someone here on watch by the first looks of this you wonder
anyway I am very pleased by the distro, with 1.5 you made a big step forward.
I was expecting xfce to start and run a bit faster then it actually does, I wonder if its slow because more apps should be loaded at startup... Its not slow in terms of seconds but I thought of it as being faster ...

Speed depends upon so many variables. When you create a system you place a minimum amount of things in startup because you don't know the speed of the CPU (s), how much RAM available etc.You can experiment with your own computer to see if you can improve by adding to the Session and Startup available in Applications>Settings

@mihail, re Search on Proboards, it defaults to only the last 7 days. I usually change it to 150 or so and get more hits. [Edit 22-Jan-2012: and now to 400 just to cover what might be available. :]
Surprised that nothing has happened with 4.8 as I noticed that the threads listed are 8+ months old. Seems to be a long time between drinks in Debian - as you can probably guess, my first Debian install.

Such is Debian pure. If it isn't solid as a rock it doesn't make it out of "testing" until the "freeze". It is what makes Debian the most reliable OS on the planet. 4.8 is nothing to be particularly excited over. It's XFCE with a few tweaks. Be patient and thankful to have a machine that doesn't go psycho every time you click on a program. " Stable" is one of the very few truths on this planet.

Yes. I've looked at 4.8 in a few distros: Aptosid, Dreamlinux, and LiquidLemurLinux. Mostly the same with a few improvements. Easier to edit the menu and bit more polish and some lumps.

Yeah, been looking at xubuntu 12.04 and still has crashes, especially colord.
