When I go to youtube, it's telling me adobe flash needs to be upgraded. It's not that big a deal but i did notice some videos will not play at all. they just say "video unavailable". Is there a fix, or should i just install the latest version from adobe?

problem solved. I'm not sure why but when i reinstalled saline 1.6, the restricted media formats were not installed even though I'm pretty sure i selected them during install.
all i had to do was type "gksu installrestrictedmultimedia" in a terminal and it fixed the problem. (as noted in the saline user manual).

Minitube is free in linux and is great for not only browsing a search item but also downloading it to your harddrive. I use xvideoservicethief to grab youtube links personally. Easier than tying up my browser. http://flavio.tordini.org/minitube minitube doesn't even require flash to work http://xviservicethief.sourceforge.net/ Don't bother converting the default youtube format with xvideo as it can degrade the file and takes longer anyways.
