Debian Wheezy to freeze on 30-June-2012
« Thread Started on May 13, 2012, 11:14pm »

According to this:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/01/msg00009.html

Wheezy may go into Freeze condition sometime this June.
The Release Team says "there are now over 1000 release-critical bugs".

Bug squashing parties are planned. Help needed/welcomed.

SalineOS 2.0's first development build should follow roughly 2-4 weeks after the freeze of Wheezy, depending on how things go. Right now much of the work I wanted to start on has been slowed because testing is currently in a state of madness (Everyone pushing new packages at once). Added to the fact that there are no working builds of Debian Live wheezy, any attempts to generate one leads to an ISO that simply doesn't boot. I am personally cautiously optimistic that things will smooth out and Debian will hit the freeze target with Wheezy in good shape for a reasonable release.

Is Debian Live a key factor in SalineOS development? Not sure how to word that; I just found your comment about "no working builds of Debian Live wheezy" interesting.

I imagine that Debian Live is key to SalineOS development. Anthony will have to respond.
If you are tracking Testing right now, an "aptitude full-upgrade" could possibly fail leaving things in an unusual attitude. :)

According to this, there is a net install image of testing, but using the installer from sid:

Debian live is in fact very important to SalineOS development. Debian live is used by SalineOS to do just about everything that is needed to make the live system boot. The biggest problem with having nothing to test with, is I cannot evaluate various methods for building the 2.x iso files. Remastersys isn't a shoe in this time around and if it does get used, I have some patches I need to test against Wheezy.

Makes a lot of sense as to why certain iso's don't boot. Thanks anthony.

Debian is the Old Fart distro. Patience is required but the final product is as reliable as a 57 Chevy.
