 (Solved) Weird Screenshots behavior.
« Thread Started on Feb 4, 2011, 1:17pm »

been trying to post a new screenshot this morning but for some reason the links from Picasa are being mis-coded. I don't know if it's Google's problem or something happened here.

okay, it seems to be a "here" problem because the screenshot links work on other forums.

The forum probably went wonky (it happens to any forum from time to time.) I suggest you just give it some time, let it figure itself out.

for what it's worth, Google changed the format of their Picasa links, they are much longer. Maybe there's a character limit on here.

I found that it takes quite a while for a link to a newly posted photo on Picasa's site.
I've been able to link to photos a day or two later, but rarely right after posting them.

that's weird. usually I take a screenshot, upload it to Picasa and post it in less than a minute, or however long it takes me to get to where I want to post it. It has been nearly "instant" for me.

I uploaded to Wordpress, which seems to work immediately. Don't know why Picasa takes so long for me. I must be using a unique set of hardware/software/internet service. I get a lot of "It works for me" in forums.

Keep seeing that but never checked it out. What can you do with it?

You should read about Dropbox at the official page :) http://www.dropbox.com/

It is very popular, but I prefer my own personal FTP server and a bookmark in my web browser.

Maybe I'll have to build my own. That's what the server addition is about.
Course there's lots of other stuff that goes along with taking care of a server on the net.

Until then, I'm happy to have a place to store stuff while traveling, just in case I lose the pen drive. :)

That kind of service gives me heart burn. There are alway to many here with and to fourth and other such nonsense. Can FTP sync computers? That what I'm looking for, my own server that can sync. Mostly for pictures but could be other stuff too.

EDIT: this site looks good but haven't done much research on it yet. Everything stays on your computer.
