[Solved] How to upgrade to newest release
« Thread Started on Mar 20, 2011, 6:23pm »

well I guess in order to upgrade salineos to the latest release we have to click on the update button or a simple apt-get update && apt-get upgrade will suffice, or will there be a script to like before.
Thanks

Well almost all of it can be had by a simple update. The only things that can't are:
The user manual changes but you can just download the newest version here: http://www.salineos.com/Downloads/UserManual.pdf
I disabled the Remastersys repository you can just add a # before the deb line in /etc/apt/sources.list

Language support in the installer. But, if you already have it installed you really don't need this. If you make a backup disk with Remastersys it will use the language setting your system is using now.

that's the beauty of debian, easy to upgrade and update,

I am wondering why should I disable the remastersys repo, is there something wrong with it ?

No not really. It is just one more repository to index and slow down updates and there really isn't a reason to need it enabled unless he updates something you want (This isn't very likely at this stage).

Now for 1.3 images on the other hand it does kind of matter as I added code to the installer to load my program to set languages and keyboard layouts. To the user it appears as all the same installer but it is actually two separate scripts with different authors. If he were to update anything no matter how small it would over write these changes.

@ beardedragon, there is nothing to edit on this post because I wasn't asking for help, I was just stating how to upgrade salineos, believe me I am not new when it comes to forums.
Thanks

Seems like a question without the question mark. Maybe I'm wrong.
