Best way to stres test Linux?
« Thread Started on Feb 20, 2011, 10:26pm »

Windows has Prime95 but what can be used in Linux to make sure all your setting are good in the BIOs. My motherboard makes it easy to over clock the CPU, RAM and un-lock a core in my CPU. To easy in fact because I made my RAM flaky and thought it was the liquorix kernel but it wasn't it turned out to be a setting in the BIOs. Okay lesson learned make one change and test. The only way I found load my system is to convert 2 DVDs at the same time with HandBracke. But that only last about 30 to 45 minutes. Is that long enough some people say overnight or 24 hours that seams like a long time to me maybe two hours.

Long story short I reset everything to stock, did a memtest86+ and the RAM passed with 2 tests. Then with the stock kernel ran 2 HandBrakes, everything was smooth including surfing. All core were at 100%. Okay cool so I install liquorix kernel again and re-test with the same results.

Is there a better way to test system stability or is this the best I have memtest86+ and running 2 or 3 HandBrakes.
