 Debian thread
« Thread Started on May 27, 2012, 8:13pm »

This is why I run SalineOS:

Probably a mistake [to post on Debian], but sometimes I fall for it.

There may be others more sexy, or more famous, but I keep coming back.

I'll start here, since I always seem to be off-topic.

I had similar issue, but with PC-BSD, it was definitely caused by KDE (one of those services they mentioned in that thread).

To stay off-topic, I have trouble with off-topicness too. I wonder why it's called off-topic, because keeping to thread in it is definitely on-topic, like in the others :) Well, maybe I should sleep a little more :)

I am too lazy to dig up my login information for the Debian forum to reply, but this needs said:

Pro tip, if you want a system that is going to work reliably, avoid systems with "Testing" "Development" "Unstable" "Experimental" "Beta" and "Alpha" in the name.

You are absolutely correct.
I thought about that but was trying to be subtle. :)
[I get enough flack just posting.
I wanted to say, "What do you expect?" But I refrained.
Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt (a sidux shirt).]

The Debian list is highly oriented toward people running sid and testing.
All the rest don't have much to talk about. :) 'Cause it's stable.

The Debian forums and mailing lists are this way, but in stark contrast #Debian on freenode is full of server techs running stable. If you need help with a server that is by far the best place to go for help, unless of course you can afford to pay RedHat.

Yes, I suppose I keep reading for entertainment.
Probably best to look for more stable entertainment. :)

I haven't recovered from rpm-thrashing.
That's why I like it here. ;D
