I had similar issue, but with PC-BSD, it was definitely caused by KDE (one of those services they mentioned in that thread).

To stay off-topic, I have trouble with off-topicness too. I wonder why it's called off-topic, because keeping to thread in it is definitely on-topic, like in the others

I am too lazy to dig up my login information for the Debian forum to reply, but this needs said:

Pro tip, if you want a system that is going to work reliably, avoid systems with "Testing" "Development" "Unstable" "Experimental" "Beta" and "Alpha" in the name.

You are absolutely correct.
I thought about that but was trying to be subtle.

[I get enough flack just posting.
I wanted to say, "What do you expect?" But I refrained.
Been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt (a sidux shirt).]

The Debian list is highly oriented toward people running sid and testing.
All the rest don't have much to talk about.

The Debian forums and mailing lists are this way, but in stark contrast #Debian on freenode is full of server techs running stable. If you need help with a server that is by far the best place to go for help, unless of course you can afford to pay RedHat.

Yes, I suppose I keep reading for entertainment.
Probably best to look for more stable entertainment.

I haven't recovered from rpm-thrashing.
